Jeff and I have lived in our neighborhood for two years, and we’re finally starting to feel well-connected and “at home” in our subdivision. I wish we could have gotten to know everyone faster, but it’s hard when you’re coming and going, working and busy.
Last week, we thought of a way to get everyone together. We created a virtual homeowner’s group on Facebook. Slowly but surely, people are joining and posting neighborly greetings. It’s great to see everyone get to know each other. Today I took a bunch of local Halloween pictures and posted them.
Our groups is called Beautiful Reseda. If you put that term in the FB search box, our group will come up right away.
This might be a fun way for you to get to know your neighborhood, too. If you try it, email me and let me know how it works out and what kind of items you’re sharing.

Laura – this is such an interesting idea. Now that you mention it, it seems really obvious, but I had never thought of it before.
All of our kids are grown up, so we’ve been having a hard time getting to know the new neighbors in our area. We used to know everyone when our kids were small. I am going to look into starting a facebook page for our subdivision. We could put invitations to join our group in the welcome baskets we give to people who’ve just moved in. That way, they’ll be able to recognize people on the street or when they’re out in the yard.
Thank you for sharing this.
