One of my current themes is the disconnect between local market conditions and national headlines. Sales have definitely slowed down in the NW suburbs, but we have not experienced the market fall-out described by the national media. As economists say, gauging local market conditions by national headlines is like trying to get a sense of the local weather by reading a national average temperature; it just doesn’t work.
So, please join me in looking at market data for Barrington, Palatine, Inverness, Crystal Lake, Lake Zurich, Arlington Heights and nearby towns. Are we looking at dropping property values and tumbling nest eggs? Fortunately, the truth is much less dramatic and much more encouraging.
