Wow, the market is tough for sellers. I’ve done three open houses over the last two weekends, and I did not have one buyer come through any of them. These were well-advertised opens in nice established neighborhoods (Barrington, Deer Park, and Palatine) with easily visible sign placement.
Two years ago, even last year, each of these opens would have had 3-7 groups or visitors through.
On the other hand, I was out showing condos in Palatine and Arlington Heights this morning, and I saw deals and prices like I haven’t seen since 2003-2004. This is a great time for investors if they have cash and are able to invest for the long-term. Some of the discounts out there are staggering. The tricky part is gaging whether the discounts will get deeper as the slow winter season creeps in.
